LEARNING LOG WEEK 10

MATH:  I drew triangles and rectangles and circles.  The circles were green, and did you know circles have no beginning or end or sides?  I drew some for fun.  I also wrote lots of numbers.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I made words with my letter tiles.  I also read books with my mom.  I also made a bat with paint.  It was really batty.  I used almost all orange except for a little purple and yellow.

SCIENCE: Bones are the only thing that makes you move.  Without bones you would try to stand up and just fall down.  Did you know we have 206 bones in our bodies?  I think that your skull bone is the biggest.  We made pictures of our hand bones.  When you hang them up on the window they are see-through like an x-ray.

ENGINEERING: I built with my legos.  I love building new things.

KARATE:  Karate was the funnest thing ever, but we didn’t get to use nun-chucks.  Instead we just did punches and kicks.  We did jumping jacks first.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 9

MATH: I wrote numbers and counted.  I practiced counting on the calendar and practiced days of the week.

LANGUAGE ARTS: I read with my mom, and I read with my dad.  I used letter tiles to make words.

SCIENCE: I learned about water and dirt and sand.  If there's already a lot of water then the dirt can't soak it up so it just runs down the side.  We still have our terrarium, and the plants are getting bigger.

ENGINEERING/LEGOS:  I built a ship and a raft.  I built other fun stuff with my Legos too.

KARATE: I practiced on the punching bag.  I got to do kicks, and I got to use my nun chucks.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 8

MATH: I've been learning about rectangles and circles.  I've also been writing numbers.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read with Ziggy.  He's my reading buddy.  I read some books with my mom.  My favorite book was "Bad Rat" which is where the rat bites the pig, then the pig bites the cat, then the cat bites Jim.  Then Jim hit the fan.  The fan hit the bad rat.  The rat hid in the tin can.  It was funny, very, very, very, very funny.

SCIENCE:  We painted pictures of when it rains and did you know if the water gets too hot it goes in the air, then the water gets heavy and it goes back down.  My plants are growing bigger in my terrarium and I haven't even watered it.  It just rained down, and it got watered.

We made play dough.  Then we made islands with water.  The paper was the water so we didn't have to worry about painting it.  Then we know that water happens underground so sometimes when you dig you find water.  Some places it takes a long time, but sometimes it's short.

I went to the museum.  I sat on a dinosaur and my mom took a picture.  I found an awesome star room.  It was really tiny blue lights in a black room.  It looked like you were in space.  We found an awesome playroom that shows you how toys work.  We watched a video about how toys work when you twist something on the toy and it starts going.

ENGINEERING:  I like building with my Legos.  Sometimes my brothers help me and sometimes my mom helps me.

KARATE: I love karate.  I got to use nun-chucks, but we can't hit people with them.  It's just for practice.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 7

MATH: I’ve been learning about rectangles.  They have 4 sides...2 big sides...2 little sides.  I colored rectangles red and all the circles blue.

LANGUAGE ARTS: I’ve been reading with Ziggy, and it was so fun.  I got to pretend he was my best friend.  I read a story in my book.

SCIENCE:  We planted some seeds in a jar called a terrarium.  It has charcoal at the bottom, then rock, then we have some dirt called soil.  Soil is what makes plants grow.  Then we added water.  Then we closed the lid.  What happens is the sun makes the water go up, but then it cools off and the water drips down and waters the plants.

ENGINEERING:  I built with my legos.  We built pyramids, and I made a car.

KARATE: I lined up into a form and I had to do a fight stance and a front stance.  Then Mr. Solomon said your name and you go across the floor in your front stance.  You have to go fast, and I said “yes” because I love to go fast.
