LEARNING LOG WEEK 24

MATH:  For math, I added numbers up to 10 using beans.  I also practiced skip counting and writing numbers.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read a new book to my mom.  I did spelling and handwriting.  I also painted this picture.

SCIENCE:  I learned about what makes something alive.  It's living if it needs air, water and can grow.

ENGINEERING:  I built a car with my Legos.  I also built a house and a scooter someone could ride on.

SWIMMING:  I can swim all the way to my teacher.  I almost went off the diving board, but I got scared.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 23

MATH:  I skip counted.  I practiced writing numbers when you skip count.  I also added.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read books to my mom.  One of the books is called, "Kids".  It has different kids in there doing different things like kicking balls or reading books.  I did handwriting and spelling.

SCIENCE:  I learned about the planets.  I learned about Mars and why it would be hard to live on Mars.  There's no air to breathe (but you could breathe from a mask) or food to eat or anywhere to live.  It would take a long time to get there.

ENGINEERING:  I built a new spaceship with  my legos.  I built it by myself.  It was a surprise for my mom.  I used a door in it.

KARATE:  Now I know what you do when a bad guy grabs your arm.  You push your arm the right way, you kick him, and you get in your fighting stance, and then you run.  I like learning new kicks in karate.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 22

MATH:  For math, I did a lot of skip counting.  I learned to skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s.  I also added numbers up to 10.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read some books to my mom.  I read a story about a moth.  A girl tried to catch a moth with a net, but the moth gets away then sits on top of the net.  I also did handwriting.

SCIENCE:  I learned about space.  I learned about how people used to think the earth was in the middle of the solar system, but it's really the sun that's in the middle.  I also learned about how we've sent people to the moon, and I learned about the Hubble telescope.

ENGINEERING:  I built some new things with my Legos.  I built a truck and some houses.

KARATE:  I did my four blocks.  I learned a new block.  It's called the inside block.  I also practiced running.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 21

MATH:  I did skip counting by 2s and 10s.  I wrote lots of numbers.  I did adding.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read lots of books.  I did worksheets.  I did spelling and handwriting. 

SCIENCE:  I learned about Jupiter and how it has swirling storms on it.  We used beans to show it's way bigger than earth.  I learned about Triton.  It's one of Neptune's moons and is covered in ice.  We painted with shaving cream.

ENGINEERING:  I built a car.  I also built a plane.  I like building things.

SWIMMING:  I went to my swimming class.  I jumped in the water.  I swam to my teacher.
