LEARNING LOG WEEK 8

MATH:  I learned about clocks.  I also did patterns and adding doubles.  I also did adding plus one.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read books every day.  I did spelling and handwriting.  I also practiced sight words.

SCIENCE:  I learned about the life cycle of mosquitoes.  I also learned about termites and other insects.

TECH:  I made a mobile of the solar system.  The sun has a light in it.  I love it!  I hung it up by my bed.

KARATE:  I did front kicks and side kicks and slide up kicks.  I also practiced my punches.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 7

MATH:  I learned about clocks and telling time.  I also did patterns and adding plus one.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I did reading worksheets.  I also did spelling.  I worked on sight words.

SCIENCE:  I went to the dinosaur museum.  I saw big dinosaur bones.  I learned about different dinosaurs. 

ENGINEERING:  I’m waiting for my next kiwi crate.  I can’t wait to build something new.

KARATE:  I learned a new side kick.  I also worked on my blocks and running.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 6

MATH:  I learned about weather and calendars.  I practiced writing my name and date.  I learned about clocks and telling time.  I filled in a 100s chart.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read a book about ants to my mom.  I read every day.  I did spelling and handwriting and worked on my sight words flashcards.

SCIENCE:  I learned about insects.  They have six legs and three body parts.  They also have an exoskeleton so the hard part of their body is on the outside.

ENGINEERING:  I used my claw to practice grabbing things.  I can’t wait until my next kiwi crate gets here.

KARATE:  I did a new move called a sweep.  I also practiced my kicks and jumps and punches.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 5

MATH:  I learned about calendars.  I wrote the date.  I worked on my 100’s chart.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read a book three times called “Slim Went West”.  I did spelling and handwriting every day.

SCIENCE:  I learned about the Fungi Kingdom.  I learned about mushrooms and how they grow.

ENGINEERING:  I put together a grabbing claw from the Kiwi Crate.  It’s really cool.

KARATE:  I didn’t have karate this week.  I have karate next week.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 4

MATH:  I learned about telling time.  I also wrote big numbers.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read to my mom.  I did spelling and handwriting.

SCIENCE:  I used my nature notebook.  I drew pictures of rocks and bushes.

ENGINEERING:  I built and grabbing claw that can pick up stuff.  I had to use rubber bands and nuts and screws.

KARATE:  I tested, and I got my gold belt.  I love karate! 

LEARNING LOG WEEKS 1 - 3

MATH:  I learned about tally marks.  I also learned about telling time and adding.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I learned about nouns and verbs.  I circled the right ones in my workbook.  I read to my mom and did spelling and handwriting.

SCIENCE:  I learned about nature and looked for bugs and plants.  I drew pictures in my notebook.

ENGINEERING:  I’m waiting for my kiwi crate.  I’m so excited to get started!

KARATE:  I practiced a running kick.  I’m getting ready for my next test.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 35

MATH:  I learned about telling time again.  I like practicing with a big clock I have.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read with my dad.  I also did handwriting and spelling.

SCIENCE:  We're starting to learn about mushrooms.  Some mushrooms you can eat and some you can't.

ENGINEERING:  I built with my legos.  I built a house and a car.

SWIMMING:  I missed swimming because my mom was sick.  I'll go back next week.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 34

MATH:  I have been doing tally marks.  You make four marks then the fifth one goes sideways.  I practiced counting and writing numbers.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read with my mom and dad.  I like reading.  I also did spelling and handwriting.

SCIENCE:  We're learning about little things you can't see unless you look at them under a microscope.  Next we're going to learn about mushrooms.

ENGINEERING:  I built lots of new things with my legos.  My favorite thing was a flying ship.

SWIMMING:  I missed swimming class this week because I was sick.  I'll be there next week.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 33

MATH:  I'm working on telling time.  I have a big clock I use, and I practiced on math worksheets.  I also wrote numbers.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read with my mom.  I did spelling and handwriting.

SCIENCE:  We looked at things under a microscope.  I like using the microscope.

ENGINEERING:  I built new things with my legos.  I like building new things.

SWIMMING:  I had fun at swimming class.  My brothers came with me.  I can swim to my teacher.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 32

MATH:  I wrote my numbers.  I added numbers to 10. I skip counted by 5s and practiced with clocks telling time.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read books to my grandma.  I did spelling and handwriting too.

SCIENCE:  I'm still learning about little things that only have one cell.  They're so small you can only see them under a microscope.

ENGINEERING:  I built lots of new things with my legos this week.  I built something new every day.  I like building new things.

SWIMMING:  I missed swimming class this week because my mom was in the hospital.  I'll be back next week.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 31

MATH:  I learned more about clocks.  There are 12 numbers on the clock.  I also practiced writing numbers.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read books to my mom.  I did reading and spelling. 

SCIENCE:  I'm learning about tiny one cell creatures.  I'm also learning about kingdoms and where animals should go in groups.

ENGINEERING:  I like building things.  I build some new things with my legos.  My brother built some things with me. It was super fun!

SWIMMING:  I missed swimming this week because I was sick.  I'll make sure to catch up next week.

MATH:  I learned about clocks.  I learned you count by 5s.  There are 12 numbers on the clock.  I also practiced writing numbers.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read books to my mom.  I did reading and spelling. 

SCIENCE:  I'm learning about tiny one cell creatures.  I'm also learning about kingdoms and where animals should go in groups.

ENGINEERING:  I like building things.  I build some new things with my legos.  My brother built some things with me.

SWIMMING:  I missed swimming this week because I was sick.  I'll be back next week.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 29

MATH:  I practiced writing numbers.  I used beans to find out which number was missing to add to ten.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read books to my mom.  I did handwriting and spelling.

SCIENCE:  We looked at bacteria in dishes.  We put probiotics in one of the dishes to see what would happen to the bacteria.

ENGINEERING:  I built some new things with my legos.  I like building with my legos.

KARATE:  I took a test.  I passed and got my double yellow striped belt.  I broke boards and did my punches and kicks.  I used nun-chucks.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 28

MATH:  For math I started learning how to tell time.  I counted by 5s.  I practiced writing numbers.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read books to my mom.  I did worksheets with words.  I did spelling and handwriting.

SCIENCE:  I learned about bacteria.  We looked at it under a microscope.  I like microscopes.

ENGINEERING:  I built new designs with my legos.  I like building new things.  My brother helped me.

SWIMMING:  I was sick this week so I missed swimming.  I'll be back next week.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 27

MATH:  For math I found the missing numbers to count to 10 using beans.  I also practiced skip counting by 5s.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read a new book, and I read stories from my Classics book.  I read to my dad.  I did spelling and handwriting.  I wrote sentences.

SCIENCE:  I learned about constellations.  I made the Big Dipper with toothpicks and marshmallows.  Some people used to think the stars in the sky made shapes that looked like people and animals.

ENGINEERING:  I built a car and a building.  I love building new things with my legos.

KARATE:  I practiced kicks, punches, and blocks.  I also ran around the room in my fighting stance.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 26

MATH:  I learned how to find the missing number adding to 10.  I also practiced writing numbers.  I will be learning about clocks soon.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read a book called "Jill".  I also read a book called "Small Things".  I did handwriting and spelling.  I practiced a poem. 

SCIENCE:  I learned about cells.  Some cells can join together and some are just by themselves.  We looked at pictures of cells.

ENGINEERING:  I built a building with my legos.  I also built an airplane.  I like making new things.

KARATE:  I practiced my fighting stance.  I learned some new kicks and punches and blocks.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 25

MATH:  I did skip counting by 10s.  I wrote numbers.  I added different ways to get to 10.  I used beans to count with.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read a book called "Jill".  I'm reading lots of books.  I did spelling and handwriting.  I played a game of saying the sound of the letter when you roll the block.

SCIENCE:  I learned about microscopes.  I looked in it at a hair and skin cells.  You can move it up or down to change it.

ENGINEERING:  I built a new space craft with my legos.  I also built a scooter.  I love building new things.

KARATE:  I used nun-chucks.  Mine were black nun-chucks.  My teacher said up and down and catch it under your armpit.  I love nun-chucks.  They're the best!

LEARNING LOG WEEK 24

MATH:  For math, I added numbers up to 10 using beans.  I also practiced skip counting and writing numbers.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read a new book to my mom.  I did spelling and handwriting.  I also painted this picture.

SCIENCE:  I learned about what makes something alive.  It's living if it needs air, water and can grow.

ENGINEERING:  I built a car with my Legos.  I also built a house and a scooter someone could ride on.

SWIMMING:  I can swim all the way to my teacher.  I almost went off the diving board, but I got scared.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 23

MATH:  I skip counted.  I practiced writing numbers when you skip count.  I also added.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read books to my mom.  One of the books is called, "Kids".  It has different kids in there doing different things like kicking balls or reading books.  I did handwriting and spelling.

SCIENCE:  I learned about the planets.  I learned about Mars and why it would be hard to live on Mars.  There's no air to breathe (but you could breathe from a mask) or food to eat or anywhere to live.  It would take a long time to get there.

ENGINEERING:  I built a new spaceship with  my legos.  I built it by myself.  It was a surprise for my mom.  I used a door in it.

KARATE:  Now I know what you do when a bad guy grabs your arm.  You push your arm the right way, you kick him, and you get in your fighting stance, and then you run.  I like learning new kicks in karate.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 22

MATH:  For math, I did a lot of skip counting.  I learned to skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s.  I also added numbers up to 10.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read some books to my mom.  I read a story about a moth.  A girl tried to catch a moth with a net, but the moth gets away then sits on top of the net.  I also did handwriting.

SCIENCE:  I learned about space.  I learned about how people used to think the earth was in the middle of the solar system, but it's really the sun that's in the middle.  I also learned about how we've sent people to the moon, and I learned about the Hubble telescope.

ENGINEERING:  I built some new things with my Legos.  I built a truck and some houses.

KARATE:  I did my four blocks.  I learned a new block.  It's called the inside block.  I also practiced running.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 21

MATH:  I did skip counting by 2s and 10s.  I wrote lots of numbers.  I did adding.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read lots of books.  I did worksheets.  I did spelling and handwriting. 

SCIENCE:  I learned about Jupiter and how it has swirling storms on it.  We used beans to show it's way bigger than earth.  I learned about Triton.  It's one of Neptune's moons and is covered in ice.  We painted with shaving cream.

ENGINEERING:  I built a car.  I also built a plane.  I like building things.

SWIMMING:  I went to my swimming class.  I jumped in the water.  I swam to my teacher.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 20

MATH:  For math I did skip counting by 2s and by 10s.  I also added different ways to add to 10.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read lots of books to my mom.  I'm getting better at reading.  My favorite book this week is called, "The Red Pen".  In the book a little boy turns into stuff that's funny.  At the start, he turns into a pen. 

SCIENCE:  I made an asteroid.  And there's something called the asteroid belt.  It has many space rocks circling the sun because of the gravity of the sun.  Asteroids are shaped like a rock, they're not perfectly round.

ENGINEERING:  I built some new things with my legos.  Building new things is fun.

SWIMMING:  I missed swimming class because I was sick.  I'll be back next week.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 19

MATH:  I did patterns and adding.  I also counted by 2s.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read books called "Get Them!" and "Fox in a Box".  I liked "Get Them!" better.  It has a dog that tried to steal a bun.  I did spelling and handwriting.

SCIENCE:  I learned about how much I would weigh on different planets.  My weight would change, but my size would stay the same.  On bigger planets I would weigh more, and on smaller planets I would weigh less.

ENGINEERING:  I built a car.  It's fun to build things.

SWIMMING:  I swam with my teacher.  I jumped in the pool.  We played London Bridges in the water.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 18

MATH:  I added numbers like 3+3.  I made patterns with shapes.  I added plus 1.  I did skip counting by 2s and 10s. 

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read new books.  I did spelling.  I played games with pretend eggs that have words that have the -th sound.  I used a spatula and flipped them over.  Then if I got the word right I kept the egg.

SCIENCE:  I learned about the moon.  There's a New Moon.  I call it the nothing moon because it's all dark.  There's the Full Moon.  It's really full and super bright.

ENGINEERING:  I built with my Legos.  I like building new things.

SWIMMING:  I went swimming.  My teacher had me kick my feet.  I jumped into the pool, and I did swim with my arms.

LEARNING LOG WEEK 17

MATH:  For math I colored shapes.  I had lots of fun.  I wrote numbers that came before and after and added plus one.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I did spelling words.  I read rhyming words.  I crossed out the ones that don't rhyme.  I read some books with my brother.

SCIENCE:  I learned about Mars.  The red sand wasn't what we hoped it would be, but it was still fun to play with.  Learning about Mars was the best part.  We used the rocks to throw at the red sand and make craters.  When they hit, it just creates a giant canyon.

ENGINEERING:  Dad helped me build a boat.  It had people on it.

SWIMMING:  I was sick this week so I wasn't able to go to class.  I'll be back next week.
